PSHE – Personal, Social and Health Education
PSHE is an important and necessary part of all pupils’ education and the social and personal development of every child should be an integral part of a school’s philosophy and values.
Teachers are best placed to understand the needs of their pupils and at BISU we aim to deliver high quality PSHE which reflects the needs of our pupils and equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe, informed decisions. PSHE uses the skills of active learning such as working in groups, listening to others, and enabling people to have a voice whether orally or in writing, so that students develop empathy for others and an understanding of themselves. PSHE education allows the issues of relationships, drugs, healthy eating and safety to be discussed in a careful and considered way.
At BISU, it is our aim that PSHE will allow our students to develop skills, attitudes and values that will benefit them from childhood through to adulthood, enabling them to become considered, empathetic, thoughtful young people and adults who care about the world around them.
